TRM Technologies Commitment to the Planet

Many companies make ‘green’ statements in the form of recycling policies or encouraging environmentally friendly habits on the part of the company or its employees. TRM goes further to make a difference and demonstrate a commitment to effect positive change.

As part of that effort TRM Technologies:

• Established a partnership with Trees for the Future (www.treesftf.org), with the aim of being Canada's first 100% carbon neutral IT & Management Consulting firm.
• Became a supporter of clean renewable electricity and is now proudly a bullfrogpowered www.bullfrog.com company. 

To act on this commitment we first needed to understand the problem:

FACTS about Greenhouse gases in Canada

1. Canada’s current Status in the G8 Ranking: 6
2. Emissions per capita: 24 tons CO2: This is 16th out of 17 OECD countries, and a “D” grade.  http://www.conferenceboard.ca/hcp/details/environment/greenhouse-gas-emissions.aspx
3. Emissions per GDP: 668 tons CO2 /M$
4. CO2 per kWh electricity: 240 grams CO2
5. Emissions in transport per capita: 6.1 tons CO2
6. A typical house produces 8 - 10 tonnes of CO2 a year from the gas, oil or electricity that are used to heat it. Just by switching to Energy Smart appliances and efficient lights, and install programmable thermostats, you could save 4-5 tonnes of CO2 a year.
